10.4m Composite Planing Mono Hull Launch

10.4m Composite Planing Mono Hull Launch

Retro style sedan top planing mono hull

The concept behind this commision was all about a simple, easy to use, day and weekend overnighting  boating with an emphasis on open and  bright spaces.

The end result is a pleasant blend of old and new styling utilising modern building materials for a fast and efficient planing hull. Construction is detailed in foam cored epoxy and E glass skins throughout to minmise weight, alternatively a slightly heavier option would be to strip plank the hull with glass skins and use ply and cored ply panels for the majority of the deck and intenral structure.

The engine is a single 300 hp diesel with an integral V drive gear box, shaft drive with underwater prop in a 'tip' tunnel to help minimise draft and place the engine as far aft as possible. Alternative drive options would be stern leg, water jets, or surface drives, even a large single or twin outboards would work well on this design.

A feature of the layout is the single sole level from the boarding platform through to the step down into the fwd cabin area. Wash boards either side of the engine box and a sliding door across the gap between the settee and the aft end of the galley will ensure reaosnable safety from a wave coming aboard and flooding down into the fwd cabin.
