7m Outboard Planing Monohull Day Cruiser
Retro style composite mono picnic boat
This design was commissioned by a client in Australia who is based on the Gold Coast and who was keen to have a simple open boat for exploring the waterways and islands between there and Brisbane with the ability to put it on a trailer for holidays further a field.
A leaning towards a more classical look was required so we have a slightly ‘retro’ style, flared fwd sections with tumble home at the transom. A dark painted hull with varnished rails and coamings would set this off nicely.
Economic construction and simplicity were part of the brief so the boat was built from a composite panel kit set.
The centre console is large enough to have space inside for a toilet if required which in this case is a portable, chemical variety.
A simple composite panel bimini over the console and helm seat offers a degree of protection from the sun and wet weather, the fwd seating could also be sheltered with a fold down ‘pram hood’.
Outboard power can be in the range of 110 to 150 hp, an alternative option would be a small diesel inboard with stern leg.
Plans are more suited to the professional builder but could easily be up dated for amatuer construction. For more information on the cost to have one of these built contact the builder.
