13.5m Composite Cruising Sailing Cat

13.5m Composite Cruising Sailing Cat

Proven offshore cruising cat

The Hill 13.5m performance sailing cat can be built either from an ATL Composites kit set or  more conventionally utilising cored composite construction over a male jig.

One of each method has been built in Auckland, one by a professional builder and the other (from the kit set) by a complete amatuer, both came out very well and have cruised extensively around the Pacific and the Australian East coast.

Either method of construction can be built to survey to put the boat into charter and the internal layouts can be altered to suit individual needs.

The hull is fitted with a pair of shallow beaching skegs and centreboards for excellent windward performance and positive control through tacks.

An option to the centre boards would be to build the boat with shallow fixed keels, this is an easier alternative in terms of building and creates a little additional internal space and they can also be utilised as tanks for fuel or waste.

Motoring power will be from two 40 hp saildrive units, fuel tanks are built into the hulls under the cabin sole with a capacity of 240 litres per side.
