14.15m Composite Cruising Sailing Cat

14.15m Composite Cruising Sailing Cat

Coventional 'one off' construction or a kit set.

The Hill 14.15m performance sailing cat was built in Auckland for a local client and will be generally used for charter work and long distance off shore cruising.

The hull, deck, and internal structure is all cored construction, vacuum laminated over male moulds using epoxy resin, e glass cloths with reinforcing in high stress areas of Kevlar and carbon fibres.

The internal layout is 4 sleeping cabins with a large double berth in each, the fwd port side has an ensuite heads with shower.

The galley is ‘down’ on the port side and the saloon has a large lounging and dining area with nav station and chart table.

The cockpit has a symmetrical layout with seating each side of the centreline and aft just fwd of the mainsheet track, twin steering wheels, and wide, easy steps down to the transoms for swimming off and boarding.

The fractional rig is an alloy extrusion being supported by mid panel diamonds, cap and intermediate shrouds swept aft coming to the composite chain plates at the deck edge.

The hull is fitted with a pair of shallow beaching skegs and centreboards for excellent windward performance and positive control through tacks.

Motoring power is provided by two 51 hp sail drive units, fuel tanks are built into the hulls under the cabin sole approx. 350 litres per side.

A genset is situated between the two fwd sleeping cabins to run the air conditioning, water maker, and other appliances.

KIT SETS

This design is now available as a complete pre laminated, pre cut, composite kit set from ATL Composites. The first boat built as a kitset has been launched in Tauranga, NZ. Beautifully built to a very high standard, ‘RE HAB’ will be cruised around New Zealand coastal waters and up to the Pacific Islands. As with most of our designs, the owners of ‘RE HAB’ modified the existing 14.15m design to best suit their own particular needs and circumstances, the end result is the least compromised solution and the most satisfied owners.
