18.5m Performance Sailing Catamaran

18.5m Performance Sailing Catamaran

Carbon high performance cruising cat

This design was commissioned by a high performance dinghy sailor who was looking for a comparitive high performance cruising yacht that could be sailed short handed or raced competitively with a crew.

Cation has a better sail area/displacement ratio than her 20m sister Kotuku and is built in a similar fashion but with a more optimised structure as a result of a careful FEA analysis by PURE Engineering.

As an added quality assurance the structural design submitted to DnV/GL plan approval and passed.

This design features similar assymetric, high lift centreboards and rudder foils which combined produce an ability to sail to windward with equivalent height to a TP52, with no leeway.

Like the larger Kotuku this cat is fully fitted out for live aboard cruising, laundry, genset, air con., water maker, etc.
